Nicole Glenn Photography Blog bio picture

I am a scientist by day and a photographer by night. Follow my journey as I juggle pipettes and lenses in this crazy thing I call life.

Here you will find my most recent work and, if you're lucky, my personal ramblings about being a new homeowner, my love of blueberry muffins, and videos of me dancing. Please contain your excitement. :)

This is the life I love.

VILLARREAL FAMILY | PORTRAITS

I adore this family. ADORE! You may remember the Villarreal family from the CF walk back in May. I was excited to formally get them in front of my camera to document their love. We spent the early evening roaming around Coronado, eating ice cream, climbing trees, strolling on the beach, and eating olives. : ) Here are a few of my favorites!

COURTNEY FAMILY | PORTRAITS

It’s kind of crazy how time flies by. Nicole and I were buddies in high school (yes, the Nicole’s hehe) and some how managed to not see a each other in years! It was great to finally see her and catch up with her and her entire family! We met up at Balboa Park to capture the Courtney’s as they are today. Newly engaged, ready to retire, with a cute new addition! Meet the Courtney family…

CHRISTINE | PORTRAITS

You know those people in your life that just get you? It doesn’t matter how long it’s been, you easily pick up where you left off. Christine is definitely one of those people for me. When my girls and I get together we are all giggles. I mean, what would life be with out laughter?? And it doesn’t hurt that we have been friends since 6th grade! Yes, 6th. I almost posted a picture of us, but thought twice. Who wants to relive 6th grade fashion?? : )

We got together this weekend to document her fabulousness and she definitely worked it out! Meet Ms. Tine Tine…

Seriously? And you think you are shy, pssh!

ALCOSER FAMILY | PORTRAITS

The Alcosers happily swirled around me as I was greeted by 7 month old Gidget. We descended into their canyon backyard while the sunlight slipped through the trees. Camera in one hand and the other clinging to branches, I knew this was going to be an adventure. Having two young boys and a rambunctious puppy means you have to have energy! Keeping up with this outdoor loving family had me climbing through trees, perched on hillsides, and dodging shoes by the swing set! They are full of life, love, and giggles. Meet the Alcosers!

Lovin’ on Gidget…

Samantha | Senior Portraits

Samantha is back! She was among some my first clients last year that actually trusted me to take pictures haha. She is now preparing for her graduation in a few weeks and has the distinct honor of singing at graduation (I would probably pass out from fear). So you can imagine the last few crazy weeks of rehearsals, finals, prom, and commencement parties! Samantha is set to attend San Diego State University in the fall and is looking forward to the college experience. We headed to the eerily abandoned SDSU campus to capture a few more senior portraits. The light was delicious, Samantha was workin’ it, and the empty campus was ours. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Samantha you are gorgeous!! This is my faaaaavorite….

I think having a sense of humor is key to surviving not only college, but LIFE. For real.

Samantha, it was truly a pleasure to hang out with you again! You are a beautiful person, inside and out. I can’t wait to see what you accomplish! My best advice is to pursue something you are passionate about, work hard, and the world is yours. I will definitely make sure you leave with leaves after out next session, I mean, it’s a tradition! Congrats and enjoy the remainder of your senior year!

xoxo,

Nicole

Josh | Senior Portraits

I headed up to Temecula over the weekend to catch up with the Stine family and shoot a few senior pictures for Josh. They recently moved down from Bay area and Josh had the difficult task of starting his senior year at a new school. Now that the school year is starting to wind down, Josh is hoping to embark on the college journey with a few old pals! I’m sure good times will ensue. : )

Here are my favorites from the session!

Josh, I wish you the best in all your future endeavors! Whatever you decide to do, follow it with all your heart. If you dabble in creative writing, please call your mom for inspiration. : ) I think we are due for a jam session soon!

Stine family, thanks for a fabulous dinner and the roses! I always enjoy spending time with you, I hope to see you guys again soon!

Griffith Family | Portraits

This past weekend we headed up the coast to celebrate Art’s birthday with his family. His sister Carrie and her husband Matthew were coming up as well and wanted some pictures to capture their sweet little family. It has been so much fun seeing Adden grow up over the past year and a half. He is a little sweetheart and his winks are to die for. : )

Say hello to the Griffith family! Here are a few of my favorites from our quick shoot…

Carrie and Matthew, it was such a pleasure to capture your family. Adden is living proof of your awesome parenting and love. Hope to see you guys soon!! xoxo

Happy Birthday Art! Love you to pieces. Yes, Reese’s Pieces.

Much love,

Vyanna and Ethan | Portraits

I have been staring at my computer screen for an hour, and believe it or not, this post is NOT writing it self!! I need to purchase a telepathic laptop or something. Hopefully Apple is working on it. : )

Here we go…

It has been one year since I declared I wanted to be a photographer. Ok, maybe it wasn’t exactly a declaration…probably more like a whisper, covered with a *cough cough*, but I verbalized it! It has been a year of ups and downs, successes and failures, and mainly me trying to find a balance. This past year flew by, and I’m not really sure how to summarize it. I do know that it has been such a blessing to document so much love. It is so cool to freeze a moment in someone’s life, capturing just how they are in this very moment.

A little flash back from last year, peaceful baby Vyanna and her big brother Ethan…

I remember how crazy nervous I was last April. Rolling up with my big black bean bag occupying my entire back seat, 3 blankets, and a 50mm 1.8 for my first newborn shoot. Err shoot period. I’m so glad I faced my fears of not being ready and blahblahblah excuses. I like to be prepared ok?? Sometimes it is the moments of unpreparedness that I experience the most creativity. Photography, and mainly photographing kids, has helped me let go (slightly) of my control freak ways, teaching me to live in the moment. Enjoying laughter, knowing glances, and just small beautiful moments that often go unappreciated. For this I am grateful.

Last weekend I caught up with my favorite little family and boy have they grown. Ethan still has the same amazing smile, minus the chubby cheeks…

And Vyanna, well, she is all grown up! It’s amazing how rapidly we grow in our first year of life. She is on the verge of walking…

He is shy in front of the lens, but what you missed were his mean robot moves and cha cha slide shenanigans earlier…

Always has the best seat in the house…

Tracey, thank you for trusting me and my vision. I know handing over a newborn is not easy. : ) I am so excited to see how well the family is doing and can’t wait to see what the future holds. I am so thankful that we have kept in touch and I appreciate your friendship and support! See you soon!! xoxo

To my handful of readers and new photography friends, thanks for joining me on this journey. Your kind words and encouragement mean more than you know. I heart you!!

Warmly,

Nicole

Grayden | Portraits

Grayden is the essence of 1. Wobbly, persistent drool stream, screaming, crying, smiles, and giggles. Luckily we experienced most of the cute, adorable aspects of 1. Amanda, his beautiful mother, was my classmate from kindergarten through the end of grade school. Yes, KINDERgarten people. It was such a pleasure to meet her handsome little man. I mean, they don’t get much cuter than this…

Meet Grayden…

Learning to walk sure looks like surfing…

That smile…

Love the two little teeth…

He will be a heart breaker for sure. With that smile, and these eyes….

Art came along with our handy Flip camera a grabbed some footage. If you like rolling down grass hills, speed bumps, and eating bubbles, this video is for you! Enjoy!

Amanda, I can’t wait to meet the rest of the army of 4! Thanks for letting me capture Grayden’s sweet nature, it’s obvious that he is surrounded by love.

Warmly,

Nicole

Lu Family | Portraits

I met up earlier this week with the Lu family to squeeze in one last session for 2009. The weather is still sunny, but the air is crisp and cool. The kids played and ran with the excitement of Santa’s pending arrival. It was such a treat to document the Lu family at their lovely home, especially when you mix in cookies! Definitely one of the more caloric sessions to date. Meet the Lu family!

Such a beautiful family…A private Christmas concert. What a rock star! She has the sweetest smile!Congrats on celebrating TEN years! I wish you many more years of laughter, love, and warm memories!Simply beautiful! So proud of that missing tooth! After shooting outside, we headed to the kitchen to bake cookies! I wish everyday ended with baking cookies. With me watching and tasting, hehe.

Thanks for a fabulous afternoon and dinner. It was truly a pleasure documenting your love. Reading breaks, burnt fingers and all.

I hope Christmas treated you well!

Warmly,

Nicole
