Nicole Glenn Photography Blog bio picture

I am a scientist by day and a photographer by night. Follow my journey as I juggle pipettes and lenses in this crazy thing I call life.

Here you will find my most recent work and, if you're lucky, my personal ramblings about Cooper, my love of blueberry muffins, and videos of me dancing. Please contain your excitement. :)

This is the life I love.

Griffith Family | Portraits

The Griffith family wanted some pictures to capture their sweet little family. It has been so much fun seeing Adden grow up over the past year and a half. He is a little sweetheart and his winks are to die for. : )

Say hello to the Griffith family! Here are a few of my favorites from our quick shoot…

Our last day was spent at Morro Strand State Beach flying kites and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Me and my momma : )

Carrie and Matthew, it was such a pleasure to capture your family. Adden is living proof of your awesome parenting and love. Hope to see you guys soon!! xoxo

Macro Monday | The Rose

It’s time for another installment of Macro Monday!! This time focusing on the dynamic rose.

The rose is given in ways to say I love you, I’m sorry, and just thinking of you. It’s classic as a single stem and timeless as a bouquet. Simply beautiful. Even the thorns. : )

Lucky for me mom has a variety of roses around the yard, and all are in bloom thanks to the abundance of rain in combination with the occasional appearance of Mr. Sun. Drink in their beauty…

Hands down my favorite!

Why not surprise someone with roses just because?? Even a single rose would surely brighten someones days!

Happy Monday!

Vyanna and Ethan | Portraits

I have been staring at my computer screen for an hour, and believe it or not, this post is NOT writing it self!! I need to purchase a telepathic laptop or something. Hopefully Apple is working on it. : )

Here we go…

It has been one year since I declared I wanted to be a photographer. Ok, maybe it wasn’t exactly a declaration…probably more like a whisper, covered with a *cough cough*, but I verbalized it! It has been a year of ups and downs, successes and failures, and mainly me trying to find a balance. This past year flew by, and I’m not really sure how to summarize it. I do know that it has been such a blessing to document so much love. It is so cool to freeze a moment in someone’s life, capturing just how they are in this very moment.

A little flash back from last year, peaceful baby Vyanna and her big brother Ethan…

I remember how crazy nervous I was last April. Rolling up with my big black bean bag occupying my entire back seat, 3 blankets, and a 50mm 1.8 for my first newborn shoot. Err shoot period. I’m so glad I faced my fears of not being ready and blahblahblah excuses. I like to be prepared ok?? Sometimes it is the moments of unpreparedness that I experience the most creativity. Photography, and mainly photographing kids, has helped me let go (slightly) of my control freak ways, teaching me to live in the moment. Enjoying laughter, knowing glances, and just small beautiful moments that often go unappreciated. For this I am grateful.

Last weekend I caught up with my favorite little family and boy have they grown. Ethan still has the same amazing smile, minus the chubby cheeks…

And Vyanna, well, she is all grown up! It’s amazing how rapidly we grow in our first year of life. She is on the verge of walking…

He is shy in front of the lens, but what you missed were his mean robot moves and cha cha slide shenanigans earlier…

Always has the best seat in the house…

Tracey, thank you for trusting me and my vision. I know handing over a newborn is not easy. : ) I am so excited to see how well the family is doing and can’t wait to see what the future holds. I am so thankful that we have kept in touch and I appreciate your friendship and support! See you soon!! xoxo

To my handful of readers and new photography friends, thanks for joining me on this journey. Your kind words and encouragement mean more than you know. I heart you!!

Warmly,

Nicole

Kelly and Tommy | Wedding

This past Saturday I had the distinct pleasure of second shooting for the fabulous Gabrielle Fox! It was my first time second shooting and I don’t think I could have been more lucky! Kelly and Tommy opted to do a first look (seeing each other before the wedding) and allotted 2 entire hours for shooting in Downtown San Diego prior to the ceremony. Are you kidding me?!? 2 hours to do bride and groom portraits, for real?!? It was no joke and Kelly and Tommy have spectacular images because of it. And I’m not talking about my photos being spectacular…more having a variety of backdrops/looks and not feeling rushed. Also, they were so at ease come time for the ceremony and still had an emotional exchange of vows. It was a wonderfully crazy experience that I will never forget.

Here are my favorite shots from the day…

Kelly and Tommy, thank you for letting me be apart of your day. Your love for each other was so contagious!! I hope your day met and went above all expectations!! I wish you two the best. xoxo

Gabby, thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful second shooting experience. Word can not explain how awesome it was to shoot with you and I hope to do it in the future. Remember, YOU are the photographer that rocks. : )

When the Earth Shakes…

…just close your eyes and wish it all away.

There was a 7.2 earthquake that rumbled Southern California and Mexicali this afternoon. Luckily it was not a violent shake, more of a rolling rumble that just displaced picture frames. Rosie was probably the most distressed during the 40 seconds of shaking. She took refuge on top of my father, who was peacefully taking a nap on a swing in the backyard. Clearly the safest place to be. : )

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!!

Much Love,

Nicole

Facelift

Don’t worry, no surgical procedures here, just a little facelift for the bloggity blog.

I am so excited to debut a new logo and in turn a little nip and tuck of the blog!! The past few weeks I have been working with the fabulous Renee of Ribbons of Red to define a new look! Something I have been wanting to do for a while, but kept putting off. Well! Here it is! My new logo!!

I have been consumed by it. Starring at it ALL the time. I even had a copy on my dashboard in the car yesterday. Don’t judge, it made traffic a little sweeter, ok?!? The gold makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like Summer. : )

If you are looking to create a new logo/blog/website definitely check her out. Her work is amazing!

Renee, thank you for your patience as I know I am a bit of a perfectionist with a touch of indecisiveness. Mainly when it comes to fonts and colors! I am extremely happy about the resulting product!! It was truly a pleasure!!!

Since every post is begging for a picture, here are a few of me and my love. : )

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what you think!!

Happy Friday!

Nicole
